New Orleans

Here we are at Jackson Square in New Orleans with Andrew Jackson rearing on his horse in the background.

There are street musicians everywhere, but these guys were really good.  Especially the steel guitar player and the banjo player.  We came back a couple of hours later and they were still drawing a crowd.

This white mule was absolutely running the show.  Not only a quick trot, but his driver never even turned around while he was talking to the passengers.

Mitzi, John and I treated ourselves to "Breakfast at Brennan's", a real New Orleans tradition.  Of course we had to have Bananas Foster for dessert as it was actually invented by their chef in 1951 (?).  I think that's the right date.

The flowers are everywhere - in the sky and on every balcony.  Along with flags and draped Mardi Gras beads. :-)

We went to a Mardi Gras exhibit in the State of Louisiana Museum that was fantastic.  This is the only costume I could photograph, which was really a shame because they are beyond anything I could ever imagine.  I can't even fathom walking in a parade while wearing this.
It was a great day and we finished it off with shrimp and crawdad's from Tony's in Baton Rouge, eaten on Mitzi's table that was covered with newspapers.  Louisiana tradition!!!
